Cracked phone screen? What to do first

How bad is it?
If the picture is clear and touch works everywhere, it's probably just the outer glass. Coloured lines, dark patches, dead pixels or spots that ignore your finger mean the display underneath took a hit too. That's a different, more expensive repair.
Stop using it
Every tap flexes the broken glass. Splinters move and the cracks spread. If you have to use it, tape over the damage so nothing lifts or cuts you.
Back it up now
Once a screen is cracked, touch can die completely with no warning. Back up to iCloud, Google or a computer while it still responds.
Don't leave it for weeks
An open crack lets in dust and moisture. Sooner or later it reaches the connectors, and a simple screen job turns into board work.
What not to do
Don't peel off loose glass, and don't try to glue the crack shut. Both make the repair harder. Keep the phone out of a pocket with keys or coins, and don't press on dark or flickering areas to test them.
Check your coverage
If you have AppleCare+, Samsung Care+ or carrier insurance, check your plan before paying for a repair. For an older phone, or one out of coverage, an independent repair with a fixed quote is often the quicker and cheaper option.
Bring it in
Free diagnostic, and a quote before we start. Most iPhone screens take 30 to 45 minutes. Android OLED screens take 3 to 4 hours because of the heat separation and the glue curing. Walk in at 20297 56 Ave, Langley, or call +1 778-928-0234.
